11 The bigger your suitcase, the more you will put into it: The simplest way to bringing too many things is to buy a hard-sided suitcase, no more than 22 inches tall with a structured shell so you can’t squeeze in any extras. 1

2Every clothing item must be dual or triple-purpose; This is very complementary to the color scheme point: every top, sweater, or a pair of pants should go with at least two or three other items in the suitcase, and if you’re sticking to a color scheme they should be a lot easier to mix & match. 2 2

3Keep your shoes in a cloth bag; Save cloth bags purses and shoes come in to re-use for traveling. Pack all my shoes in their own cloth bags. So that you can go for a run on the street and not worry about little spare dirt being tracked into the suitcase. If you don’t have one, look into getting a travel shoe bag or two. 3 3

4Check the weather; Pack an umbrella anyway. Weather is unpredictable, and the last thing you want to do when you arrive in a new location is doing a frantic search for an umbrella, and possibly destroy your clothes and luggage in the process. There’s also the risk of the return home: You spend plenty of time tracking the weather. 4 4

5Pack an extra duffel, travel bag, or additional carry-on; It’s usually hard for me to predict how much you’ll be bringing back with you on a particular journey. You might get some swag from some event. Your friend might bring you something you've been craving, or you may even organize an online shopping trip prior to. 5 5

6Use a master packing list for every trip; Usually, should go through the final checklist once think you done the packing. This allows to quickly check off major items like sleepwear and sometimes it jogs your memory about something else you should have packed. 6 6

7Start packing early; Usually set out your open suitcase a day or two before you leave, and for longer trips, even 3-4 days earlier. This allows for throw a few items you don’t want to forget into the suitcase as soon as you think of them and get them out of mind and into the suitcase. 7 7
